3D Sailing Platform Academy – SailingCompass
Effective date: 01/01/2026
TERMS OF USE
1. About the Platform
The 3D Sailing Platform Academy (the “Platform”) is owned and operated by SailingCompass, a legal company registered in Greece and governed by Greek and EU law.
The Platform is accessible via desktop or laptop computers through a web browser.
Purpose & Educational Scope
The 3D Sailing Platform Academy is designed as an educational learning environment. The goal of the Platform is to help users build sailing knowledge, skills, and confidence, allowing them to learn at their own pace, from anywhere in the world. Using a detailed 3D model of IRIS, a real sailing yacht, users can explore onboard systems, equipment, and spaces. Learning is supported through videos, diagrams, simulations, and interactive tools.
The Platform is intended to complement practical, real-world sailing training. While the 3D modules provide strong theoretical understanding and preparation, real on-water experience remains essential to become a competent sailor or skipper. By accepting these Terms and using the Platform, you acknowledge and agree that:
– the Platform is educational only,
– it does not replace certified instruction, licensing, or supervised practical training, and
– real-world sailing involves risks that require hands-on experience and judgment.
Vessel Type & Applicability
The 3D Sailing Platform Academy is based on a conventional cruising monohull sailing yacht. The principles demonstrated throughout the Platform (including sail trim, balance, reefing techniques, onboard systems, safety procedures, and navigation practices) are primarily applicable to standard displacement monohull sailing vessels.
While many sailing fundamentals are transferable, different yacht designs — including performance monohulls, heavy-displacement vessels, racing yachts, and multihull configurations such as catamarans or trimarans — may require different techniques, trim strategies, stability considerations, and handling approaches.
Users are responsible for understanding the specific characteristics and operational requirements of the vessel they are sailing.
